This laptop is operating under Kernel version [2.6.12-gentoo-r6]
Basic Installation of
2.6.12-gentoo-r6:
- Nothing out of the ordinary here
Setting up additional features for
Gentoo Linux
- Nothing out of the ordinary here either - i'll update when
it comes to mind.
- Ah yes, xinerama works with extending the desktop as well
as cloning. The xorg.conf is the tricky part.
- I have the cpufreq daemon running to slow down the
processor when on battery etc etc.
- ACPI works OK as far as I can tell.
- Modem works (linmodem). Its an intel modem inside the
chipset. If using 2.6 sources go into the Alsa section and enable the
alsa module for intel modem (snd_intel8x0m). Moprobe it and run the
Smartlink modem driver package (slmodem). It has problems, an my setup
it will only attempt to raise the hook once and then the slmodem utiliy
must be restarted. Not a big deal though unless you have to redial all
the time.
- Havn't tried swapping to disk yet.
- Have not tried the SVIDEO out port either but may do so soon.
- PCMCIA works with the usual PCMCIA tools and yenta module.
